The Enschede fireworks disaster has left a permanent mark on Roombeek, the area in which the fireworks depot was situated. Six years after, new houses are being built where the disaster took place. Life goes on in Roombeek, it will not just be a memorial site.
In the reconstructed area, traces from the past, including the disaster, will remain. Although the original fabric of the area was badly hurt by the disaster, it was not erased.

This website tells a story about Roombeek. It shows how the events of may 13th, 2000 affected the area from a spatial point of view. The story analyzes the before and after situation, and shows the traces of history that survive in Roombeek to this day.
